HAMRA NATIONAL PARK

Hamra national park is something special . It lies between Mora and Sveg next to road 45 , turn right at the sign that points to the park . There's a gravelroad that leeds to the park and after a while you find a little parkingplace with some picknick tables . You enter the park through a gate and at the entrence is a guestbook . They say about Hamra that it's a peace of untouched nature , but that's not entirely true . You can see traces of human intervention , some fallen trees has been cut because they were lieing acros the track for example . This park is something different because of the size , its quite small , even for dutch standarts . Years ago they found out that this area was still untouched by men although the surrounding woods were used to cut limber , and so they made a national park of it .
There lies a trail through the park that makes a loope and it takes you 15 till 30 minutes and then you saw the whole park ! The people who manage the park try to let nature take its course and therefore you have to klimb over bolders and fallen branches sometimes . There is'nt a rich variety of animals and plants exept for the insekts , there is a huge variety of beetles . It's mainly a coniferous forest and the oldest trees are more than 300 years old . One of the atractions of the park are the beard lychen wich are hanging down from the trees , and you will find more kinds of lychen throughout the park . I have been in the park twice and did'nt see one human beeing there .

This park does'nt lie in Lapland also , but it's something special and therefore worth a visit . It can also be a nice intermezzo on the long yourney to Lapland .
